“Ciao Matteo,
Sorry it has taken me so long to review the trip. Not only have I had many ski patrol trainings and meetings, but I also have a new puppy! I forget how much time they take.
Thanks so much for coordinating a great vacation. I think everyone enjoyed themselves and took home many good memories. I’m guessing you’ve heard from some, if not all, of them.
The cell phone is a great idea. It was so helpful once I learned how to use the GPS. Maybe include a few simple directions on how to search for an address and then how to follow the map. It was also nice having easy access to you.
I loved alternating between big cities with museums to smaller towns in the countryside. The guides were very good and knowledgeable. Some were easier to understand than others, but they were all pleasant to be around. I was assigned the task of visiting with the drivers and guides since I enjoy learning about new people.
I loved the hiking. The one in Positano took one of our gang much longer than anticipated, but she was very pleased she did it. Mauricio was very patient and helpful. This made us late in returning and those who didn’t hike were disappointed we didn’t have more time to explore. Lots of extenuating circumstances there, including the nature of weather.
I especially enjoyed the cooking classes, both were delightful. The wine tasting was fun. As I said before, the cheese farm was the least favorite activity. No interaction with the people there. Giorgio picked up the basket and opened the wine. We were all enamored with Giorgio, of course. I could have spent the whole afternoon at Montepulciano and been happy.
The castle was fun and had beautiful views – as did most of the hotels. They were spectacular in fact. The only downside of the castle was it wasn’t situated in a place that allowed for walking or exploring.
The Vespa tour was approached with apprehension by most and turned out to be a ball. It was definitely a high point.
Personally, I didn’t enjoy Lake Maggiore as much as other places, although it was one of the favorites of others. The train ride was nice, but not much time to explore.
I loved Cortina, no surprise there. The scenery is breathtaking. You live in a fabulous place.
We were delighted to have dinner with you – it was another highlight. It’s fun to finally meet those you’ve mostly talked with over the computer. Thanks very much for dinner and also the coffee and pots. I don’t know if it would work out, but it would be easier if you sent them at the end of the trip, less to carry. It didn’t matter that much, just a suggestion. You and Daniela are treasures and I hope we meet again.
I’m glad that you were able to turn a dream into a reality and will highly recommend you. Be sure and get in touch with if you ever make it to Salt Lake City. We will show you the sights!
Saluti,
Laurie”
